A MORTIFIED nursery nurse shed seven stone after her bikini top SNAPPED on a family holiday, exposing her to a group of total strangers.

Size 28 Mel Pearson decided to squeeze herself into a size 18 bikini for the trip to Benidorm, Spain - with disastrous results.

The now 25-year-old ballooned to 20 stone when she started comfort eating following the death of her mum, at the age of just 16.

Mel, who has a fiance called Amy, would snack on crisps, biscuits and chocolate - while surviving on a diet of ready meals, chips and chicken nuggets.

When the bikini flew open, she was beside herself with embarrassment - and decided to tackle the problem.

She decided to hit the gym five days a week and started taking Skinny Sprinkles, a slimming aid loved by the likes of Geordie Shore stars Holly Hagan and Chloe Ferry, model Demi Rose and Towie's Chloe Sims.

Mel said: “My mum was a great cook and I went from eating three regular, healthy meals a day to living off junk.

“My weight climbed to 20 stone, I wasn’t eating healthily, I was drinking too much and I was doing absolutely no exercise.

“The trigger came when I went away with my family and my bikini snapped.

“I was mortified but thinking back, I should never have squeezed my size 28 frame into a size 18 bikini top. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

“As soon as I got home, I took action. The doctor put me on weight loss tablets which I hated but I did lose three stone in just eight weeks.
